After a great few days in Chiang Mai, it was time to get on our bikes and head further north. We left early and had a pretty flat, straight forward ride for the whole 86km to Chiang Dao. We arrived at about midday and were welcomed by the four lovely women who run the Chiang Dao Huts. They were full of smiles and giggles and gave us a cold lemongrass drink to cool off.
(Definitely one of the more interesting sign posts we've seen)

(We rode through lovely lush forests. Much cooler in the shade of the trees)

After an excellent lunch at our accommodation, we walked down to explore the nearby cave which is one of Chiang Dao's main attractions. The name Chiang Dao means 'City of Stars' which is a reference to the large limestone peaks in the area. The town itself is quiet and is meant to be a popular retreat for people from Chiang Mai.

(Limestone peaks all around)
We spent the evening on the verandah at the guest house, reading up on the towns and places that lie ahead. We had another great meal and are ready for another early rise tomorrow for our ride to Thaton. We've had a great stay at Chiang Dao Huts, made all the more enjoyable by the friendly, happy staff.
